Lopsang Sherpa was born in Jubing, Solukhumbu, along the historic route to Mount Everest — a region deeply rooted in Himalayan mountaineering heritage. He began his professional journey in 2000, entering the field as a porter to support his family following the tragic loss of his father in an avalanche on Annapurna I. What began as a necessity soon evolved into a lifelong vocation shaped by resilience, discipline, and unwavering commitment.

Through years of dedication and progressive responsibility, Lopsang advanced from porter to cook helper, then trekking guide, steadily building technical expertise and leadership capability in high-altitude environments. His perseverance culminated in earning the prestigious IFMGA/UIAGM Mountain Guide certification — the highest internationally recognized qualification in mountain guiding, representing excellence in safety, technical proficiency, and professional standards.

Over the course of his career, Lopsang has collaborated with several internationally expedition operators, including Mountain Madness (USA), Rainier Mountaineering, Inc. (USA), Benegas Brothers Expeditions (USA & Argentina), and Sherpana (USA). In addition to these partnerships, he continues to work alongside distinguished mountain guides and expedition companies from around the world.

Today, Lopsang Sherpa is recognized not only for his technical competence and leadership in extreme alpine environments, but also for his integrity, professionalism, and deep respect for the mountains that shaped his life and career.

2025

8th Everest Summit

Successfully summited Mount Everest for the 8th time, leading an American expedition team and maintaining a perfect safety record.

2019

Company Founder

Founded Himalayan Ibex Adventure Pvt. Ltd. on 21 March 2019, establishing his own expedition company.

2017

IFMGA Certification

Completed UIAGM/IFMGA Diploma, the highest international qualification in mountain guiding. Became certified through NNMGA.

2007

First Everest Summit

Successfully summited Mount Everest for the first time with a USA expedition team, beginning his climbing career.

2000

Began as Porter

Started working as a porter earning 200 Nepalese rupees per day to support his family. Saved money for food while supporting mother and siblings.

1991

Family Tragedy

Father Lhakpa Dendi Sherpa died in an avalanche on Mount Annapurna I while working with a Korean expedition. At age 8, Lopsang became responsible for supporting his mother and siblings.
